Al-Ahly compete in the Egyptian Premier League and are based in Egypt’s capital Cairo. They are the most successful club in the history of both Egyptian and African football, having won the league title 42 times, the Egypt Cup 37 times and also a record 9 CAF Champions League titles. Al-Ahly were founded in 1905 by a group of students initially for political reasons and this soon led to the group gathering for sporting activities with the formal establishment of the sports club in 1907.
